Job Description
The Opportunity
CoAbility Pty Ltd is seeking a Home & Living Specialist. This is not a standard support coordination role; it is a specialist technical role for a tenacious problem-solver.
We are looking for someone with a background in Property Management, Public Housing (DFFH), or Tenancy Advocacy who wants to pivot their career into the "for-purpose" sector.
You will use your knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, your confidence at Tribunals, your understanding of the property market and your ability to build strong linkages with housing providers to secure housing outcomes for people who have been shut out of the system.
What You Will Do
Working remotely as part of our specialist team, you will:
-
Build Referral Pathways: Actively engage with SIL and SDA providers to build strong brokerage networks. You won't just wait for listings; you will uncover "real live" vacancies and create ongoing opportunities for your participants.Define Goals: Work closely with participants to identify their specific housing needs and drive the strategy to meet their housing goals.
-
Hunt for Housing: Scour the private rental, public housing, and SDA markets to find accessible properties.
-
Advocate: Speak to Real Estate Agents and Landlords, advocating for your client's tenancy application.
-
Navigate the NDIS: Coordinate evidence for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), SIL, and ILO funding applications.
-
Sustain Tenancies: You don't just find homes; you keep them. You will support participants in preparing for property inspections, negotiating payment plans for arrears, and resolving tenancy breaches to prevent homelessness.
-
Fight for Rights: Support participants to understand their leases, fight eviction notices, and represent them at Tribunals if necessary.
Who You Are
-
You are a connected broker: You understand that finding housing is often about who you know. You are confident picking up the phone to SIL and SDA providers to build relationships and identify suitable vacancies.
-
You are "bricks and mortar" savvy: You know the difference between a lease and a licence. You know how to fill out a rental application so it gets approved.
-
You are resilient: You don't take 'no' for an answer from an agent. You know how to negotiate.
-
You are a tenacious advocate: Driven by a strong sense of social justice, you fight for your participants' rights while keeping a sharp eye on value for money to ensure every hour of funding delivers impact.
-
You are qualified: You hold a relevant qualification (Social Work, Community Services, or Property Services) and have at least 2 years of experience in Housing or Support Coordination.
